Our Lake Anna state park has made the top 100 best Family campgrounds in the country ! Yes, according to Reserve America- a campground service, it's kid friendly beaches and hiking and horse trails rank it high. Lake Anna was created in 1972, by the Dominion Power Company, by building a dam on the North Anna River at what is now the east end of Lake Anna. Resulting flooding of the North Anna and Pamunkey rivers to the west, created what is now our Lake Anna, the 2nd largest lake contained within the boundaries of Virginia.
