Lake Anna enjoys an interesting history to include how and why it was created, along with facts about familiar happenings before and after the creation of the lake. Additionally the geographical aspects of the lake, makes it a great place to live, vacation or to just visit.
Lake Anna is located centrally, in Northern Virginia, between the major cities of Fredericksburg to the northeast, Richmond to the southeast, Charlottesville to the southwest and Culpeper to the northwest, all within an hours drive of the lake. More local towns, surrounding the lake are Louisa, Orange, Spotsylvania and Bumpass, providing local shopping, lodging, banking, dining and other amenities.
Living at Lake Anna, offers a peaceful and scenic experience, away from the hustle and bustle of city, town and suburban living, but still provides for local shopping, great things to do, social gatherings and of course, our Lake Anna State park. Just a short drive away, are upscale amenities provided by our local towns and major cities. Excellent hospitals are available at the major cities, with local ambulance and medical services provided locally.
If Food and Dining is on your list, Lake Anna offers a number of local restaurants, and a new food shopping center providing a Food Lion for food shopping along with pizza and Chinese eat-in or take-out food.
If visiting or vacationing at Lake Anna, and looking for lodging or camping on or near the lake, a combination lodge/restaurant is available near the central lake, a motel at one of our marinas directly on the lake, along with a number of campgrounds if you prefer roughing it some. Of course, our Lake Anna State Park, also offers cabins and camp sites.
And, last but not least, what most come to a lake for, Lake Anna's fishing and boating provides the best of both. The lake's 17 mile length, from the deep lower lake (for larger boats) to the shallower upper lake (for smaller boats), it's islands and farm land shores, allows for beaching your boat for swimming and picnicking. If you want to stop your boat and toss a fishing line, Lake Anna offers many species of fish, available at different times of the year.
